Directions:
To get to this cemetery, take Hwy. 120
(Buchanan Hwy.) out of Dallas going toward Buchanan. After
you cross Hwy. 278, proceed approximately 6 miles to Old
White Oak Springs Cemetery Road. Turn left and when the
road turns from black top to gravel start looking for the
cemetery on your left. It is very rustic but worth a trip.
A little history The early records of the church were
destroyed by fire when the home of a former clerk burned.
Tradition has it that in 1856 a group of people met in a
grove of white oak trees at the present site of this
cemetery and organized the White Oak Missionary Baptist
Church. Mrs. Lois Cole Wood stated that the cemetery
formerly had more than 100 marked graves. Several of the
markers, which contained inscriptions, have been removed
from the cemetery.
