The current Cypress Creek Church
Mrs Loreese Machen Carpenter,
plans to be one of the 4th generation buried in this cemetery.
Following are her Machen ancestors: parents: Pierce & Jeanette (Hodge), little sister who died at age 2 months: Imogene, grandparents: William & Emma (Jones) and gtgd parents: James & Sarah (Connell) Hodges. Her other grandparents: James & Palistine (Box) Hodge are buried near by as is her other ancestors: Elisha Jones who took as his 2nd wife Louisia Faith Hodges. Louisia was first married to James Hodge (above) father who disappered in the Civil War when he was only 3 weeks old. Loreese has at least 15 "direct" ancestors buried in this grave yard as well as a grandson.

In the last picture above, also notice the tombstone directly behind the flag pole. This is the grave of Samual Chandler and his wife, Julia Fowler who were murdered in 1914. Peggy Beaubouef related the story of their deaths in the April 1998 issue of Legacies & Legends of Winn Parish, published by the Winn Gen & Hist Assn.

Although some new tombstones mark older graves, there are still lots of unmarked graves here.
Anyone knowing of unmarked graves are requested to contact the host and submit name and dates, if known.
This cemetery is keep up by the church and other volunteers. There is a cemetery committee and a church reunion.
