Marie Elizabeth Engel 
November 11, 1914 - July 5, 2004



Born Marie Elizabeth Geringer, November 11, 1914 to Gottlieb and Maria Geringer 
in Ordway, Co- lorado. She passed away July 5, 2004 at Arbor Convalescent in 
Lodi, Calif. She was married to Al Engel for nearly 50 years prior to his death 
in 1980. 
She is survived by three children, Barbara Jean (Engel) Crow of Clements, 
Raymond F. Engel of Clements and Marvin E. Engel 
of Nampa, Idaho. A brother, Ben Geringer and wife Dolores of Lodi; one sister, 
Martha Bitter of Madera and one sister-in-law, Betty Geringer of Lodi. 
Grandchildren include: Byron Crow of Lodi, Scott and Misty Crow of Sacramento, 
Robert Engel and Rayanne Engel, both of Clements, Charlynn, Abbi and Lori Engel 
of Nampa, Idaho. Six great-grand-children also survive her. 
She was so loved and respected by all whose lives she touched in so many ways: 
Farm Bureau, Clements Buckaroos, Clements Volunteer Fire Dept, Clements grammar 
school and especially 4-H Club where she was a project leader for 10 years 
followed by Community Leader for another 10 years. She lived her greatest 
talent, that of giving and doing for others, while working beside her husband 
on the ranch, running the family dairy & cattle operation, irrigating the crops 
and making wonderful German dishes and homemade breads. A wonderful wife, 
mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and surrogate mother, she 
was truly an icon in the community. She will be deeply missed by those who 
survive her, but knowing that she will finally be joining the love of her life 
in the Lord's house, gives great comfort.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday July 10, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the 
Glenn View Cemetery in Clements. Arrangements are by the Lodi Funeral Home.
