Fourth of July, McConnellsburg
This photo was given to me by my Great
Uncle Elwood (Doc) Wilkinson back around 1985 before he died.
He said it is a 4th of July celebration in McConnellsburg, Pa. I am
guessing by the dresses that it is about 1900. Doc Wilkinson grew
up in McConnellsburg with his siblings, Mary, A. Valetta, Lenora,
Myra, & Robert. They were the children of Amos Bender
Wilkinson and Lavina (Veenie) Virginia Stottlemyer. I understand
that she taught school there. Amos was a local blacksmith. The
photo is in possession of Rosalie (Doyle) Siri, grand-daughter of
Amanda Valetta (Wilkinson) Doyle and Ross Elsworth Doyle of
McConnellsburg. - Rosalie Siri, June 2003
