Spanish-American War

The US GenWeb Archives is embarking on the US GenWeb Archives Pension Project. This project will endeavor to provide actual transcriptions of Pension related materials for all Wars prior to 1900. Transcripts, extracts and abstracts will be accepted and files will be placed in the USGenWeb Archives directory of the State and County of principal residence of the Pensioner.

You are welcome to submit your files of your ancestors to the Coordinator below.

   Volunteers Needed!
We are looking for volunteers who will coordinate each state's Spanish-American War Pension records. If you would like to volunteer, please email Katy Hestand.

In conjunction with the Maine State Archives, transcription has started on the Spanish American War Solider cards housed in the Maine State Archives.  This joint collaboration will benefit both the Maine State Archives and the Maine USGenWeb Project.  A database has been created to capture the information on these cards and will be presented here.  The database will be shared with the Maine State Archives at completion of the project.

There is some great genealogical information captured on these cards!  Besides what is presented below, the occupation, physical characteristics, enlistment and muster information, and remarks are captured.  The remarks capture parental/guardian information, as well as bounty paid and date.
