ASSISTANT QUARTERMASTER GENERAL, Col. Frederic E. Boothby, of Portland, was born in Norway, November 3, 1845. He was educated at the Oxford Normal Institute, and at Waterville Academy, the latter institution being now known as the Coburn Classical Institute. He was deputy postmaster in the Waterville post-office for three years. He was elected general ticket agent of the Maine Central Railroad, May 1, 1864, and has since been constantly engaged in railway service. He is widely known as general passenger and ticket agent of this popular railroad. He was a member of the staffs of Governors Bodwell and Marble. |
