Councilor from the Fifth District, was born in Rockland, July 23, 1857. He prepared for college in the public schools, and entered Bowdoin College in 1873, graduating in the class of '77. He passed two years in Germany, studying law one year at the University of Leipzig and one year at the University of Berlin. Upon his return home he pursued his studies in the Harvard Law School one year, then returned to Rockland and became a student in the law office of Rice & Hall. Mr. Cobb was admitted to the bar in 1881, though he has never practiced law. He associated himself with the firm known as Coff, Wight & Co., wholesale grocers and ship chandlers, of which firm he is still a member, and in 1884 became a member of the firm of Francis Cobb & Co. |
