King and Queen County was created from part of New Kent County in 1691. In 1721, Spottsylvania County was created in part from King and Queen County. Caroline County was created from King and Queen County in 1728. The boundaries between Caroline and King and Queen Counties were redrawn in 1762. The County Seat is King and Queen, Virginia.
